LOTUS LAMPS WITH BENT RODS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR ALTARS

Shuohua20161118 00:42
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)

Caller: Hello Master Lu. I heard from the radio program a couple of days ago about red lotus lamps. For those who have already placed them on their altars, what should they do?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Red lotus lamps are perfectly fine as long as the rods are not bent. Do you have such lamps on your altar?

Caller: No, they are straight.

Master Jun Hong Lu: It doesn’t matter then.

DREAMING OF FOLDING CLOTHES INDICATES THE REMOVAL OF KARMIC OBSTACLES

Shuohua20160129  17:33
(Master Jun Hong Lu's call-in radio program)

Caller:  Master Lu, I know that (dreaming of) washing or throwing away clothes means karmic obstacles are being removed.  What about folding washed clothes?  What does that mean?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  It's all the same, representing the removal of karmic obstacles.

SHOULD WE WRITE THE DATE OF "OFFERING" OR "COMPLETION"

Master Jun Hong Lu's Discourse (112), June 18, 2016

Q: Master Lu mentioned previously in one of the radio programs that for Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance Self-Cultivation Form, we should fill the date of offering instead of completion. However, I had written the date of completion for those that I prepared previously, and I still have a few of these with the dates written. What should I do with them? Should I re-dot or leave them as they are?

A:  For those Little Houses filled with the date of completion, you may leave them as they are. When you offer Little Houses in future, you should write the date of offering instead. The principle is similar to that of issuing a cheque. If the cheque is dated in advance and left aside for too long, the problem of validity will arise. This is applicable to the Self-Reserved Little House too. Write the date when make offering but not earlier than this. But for those which you have written, it is fine.

LATEST DISCOURSE: WHEN YOU ARE ON THE VERGE OF LOSING YOUR TEMPER, RECITE 10 TIMES “MAY GUAN YIN BODHISATTVA HAVE COMPASSION ON ME, AND HELP ME TRANSFORM THE GREED, HATRED AND DELUSION WITHIN ME”

Wenda20161211A 03:59
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)

Caller: Master Lu, you advised us before that when we are enraged and are on the verge of losing our temper, we may recite in silence “May Guan Yin Bodhisattva help me to transform the greed, hatred and delusion within me” 10 times. Is that right?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, this is the latest from yesterday's discourse. Let me tell you, you must say, “May Guan Yin Bodhisattva have compassion on me and help me transform the greed, hatred and ignorance within me.” How does this work? It is because every anger stems from the three poisons, being Greed, Anger and Delusion.

Caller: In that case should we start first, by reciting in silence “May Guan Yin Bodhisattva have compassion on me and help me to transform the greed, hatred and delusion within me” or should we recite the Mantra To Untie Karmic Knots, or at times like this, should we first take a seat or should we pray to Bodhisattva directly?

Master Jun Hong Lu: When you are on the verge of flying into a rage, firstly you should pray to Bodhisattva, followed by performing recitation. That will be perfect! After doing so, see for yourself, whether you would still get angry.

Caller: Indeed, relating to Bodhisattva is also considered an ingenious approach.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Try it out and you will know what I mean. In fact, from the psychological point of view, when a person is fuming in anger, try to calm down and your anger will slowly subside.

IS IT BETTER TO RECITE THE GREAT COMPASSION MANTRA OR THE JVALA MAHAUGRA DHARANI IN CASE OF EMERGENCY?

Wenda161118  57:50
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)

Caller: Master Lu, in times of emergency, should one recite the Great Compassion Mantra or is it better to recite the Jvala Mahaugra Dharani?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Recite the Great Compassion Mantra. You would want many Bodhisattvas to come together to save you.

HOW TO DETERMINE IF WE ARE GENUINELY CULTIVATING OUR SPIRITUALITY

Wenda20141102A 06:29
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Caller:  Many practitioners express the notion that their fellow Buddhist colleagues look to be cultivating their spirituality well, but then cannot avoid calamities or misfortunes when these situations present themselves. Master Lu says we actually are unable to judge how well others are cultivating their spirits, and that we can only truly judge ourselves on this matter. So, how do we determine if we are genuinely cultivating our own spirituality?

Master Jun Hong Lu: How do we judge this? Only you have clear insight into yourself! Do not let others judge you. True cultivation comes from within your heart! Every positive and negative action you perform is done when using your own conscience. Don’t you agree?

Caller: I understand. In future, when we undertake any form of action or speech, we will do it openly for everyone to see, especially my conscious self.

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Right! Everything must be above board and open for all to see and hear. A person who whispers behind others’ backs is disrespectful and has fallen off of the spiritual path! What is there to be ashamed of?

Caller: Many of my fellow Buddhist practitioners organise group life liberation activities and practise Dharma together. In actuality, we should be spending some time cultivating our inner selves on our own, right?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Be clear about the process. All three or four people in the group need to share responsibility together, understand? Do not let one person take charge or let someone too young to be in charge of monies. Why do banks need cashiers and accountants?

WORDS OF WISDOM

WORDS OF WISDOM

These are the nemeses of our spiritual cultivation:
Worries they narrow our perspectives;
Resentments they provoke hostility;
Griefs they obstruct our advancement;
Anger it invites enemies.

IF WE LOST THE LITTLE HOUSES WHICH WE HAVE COMPLETED, ARE WE ALLOWED TO RE-DOT THEM?

Wenda20160612A  34:32  [Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program]

Caller: Master Lu, one of our fellow practitioners has accidentally misplaced her handbag while taking a bus ride. She had 18 completed little houses in the bag.  Most of the little houses were meant for her deceased mother, who passed away less than 49 days ago.  Can she pray to Bodhisattva for those Little Houses to be voided and transfer to new ones?

Master Jun Hong Lu: No, she can’t.

Caller: What will happen if the staff of the bus company or other people found and threw away or burnt those little houses?

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s why she can’t.

Caller: What should she do then?

Master Jun Hong Lu: There’s nothing left to do.  It’s gone.

Caller: Which means she has to start from scratch and re-do all the recitations? She is not allowed to re-dot on new little houses after praying to Bodhisattva?

Master Jun Hong Lu: She would be in trouble if someone found and burnt those little houses.

‘IMPURE’ KINDNESS CAUSES OUR BLESSINGS TO GREATLY DISSIPATE

Master Jun Hong Lu’s
Public Talk in Jakarta, Indonesia
20 February 2016

‘IMPURE’ KINDNESS CAUSES OUR BLESSINGS TO GREATLY DISSIPATE

If our kindness is "impure", our blessings will greatly dissipate.  For example, when you are jealous of others and feel uneasy when seeing others leading a good life, these attitudes deplete your blessings.  Let’s quote another example. When you see someone waste food, or behave improperly, etc… and then afterwards you see this same person stricken down by serious illness. If you begin to think: ‘See! The forces of retribution are always listening!  People like this suffer the consequences of their own bad deeds!’ That’s it!  As you have no empathy or compassion for them, and instead take pleasure in another’s misfortune, your blessings will once again dissipate.

Master Jun Hong Lu: White.  White will brighten up the room and permit light to glow, which brings about illumination from the light of wisdom.

THE GREAT COMPASSION MANTRA POSSESSES THE EFFECT OF EIGHTY EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE (LIFO)

Master Jun Hong Lu’s
Public Talk in Milan, Italy
23 September 2017

THE GREAT COMPASSION MANTRA POSSESSES THE EFFECT OF EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE (LIFO)

Question:  There is an elderly lady in Guan Yin Hall who is illiterate.  She doesn’t speak Mandarin and isn’t able to communicate in any of the other Chinese dialects.  She is very committed to learning the practices of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, and has made a vow to practice vegetarianism her entire life.  She gets up at 5am each morning to recite the Buddhist scriptures along with a mantra recorder.  She has managed to master the recitation of the Great Compassion Mantra, Heart Sutra, and Sapta Atitabuddha Karasaniya Dharani (Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan). However, the recitation of LIFO still poses a challenge.
Master, may I know for elderly people such as this particular woman, when undertaking their daily recitations, can they perform a fixed number of Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan as a tentative substitute for LIFO?

Answer:  Good question!  As elderly people like her may not be able to recite LIFO, they may recite more of the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan and Great Compassion Mantra instead.  After reciting the Great Compassion Mantra, they may say a similar prayer to that of LIFO such as, ‘May Bodhisattva protect and bless me.  If I have committed any misdeeds, may I be forgiven, etc”.  You may not be aware that the Great Compassion Mantra possesses the same effect as LIFO.

IS USING VIRTUES ACCRUED FROM HELPING SENTIENT BEINGS, RECITATIONS AND LIFE LIBERATION TO PAY BACK IS THE FASTEST WAY TO ELIMINATE KARMIC DEBTS?

An Excerpt from Master Jun Hong Lu's Buddhist friends Session, France-Paris
September 12, 2015

IS USING VIRTUES ACCRUED FROM HELPING SENTIENT BEINGS, RECITATIONS AND LIFE LIBERATION TO PAY BACK IS THE FASTEST WAY TO ELIMINATE KARMIC DEBTS?

Caller:  During one of the Q&A sessions, one of the Buddhist friends shared that eliminating karmic debts is of utmost importance.  He used all the merits accumulated through introducing Buddhism to people, recitation and life liberation to eliminate his karmic debts.  May I ask is this the fastest way to eliminate karmic debts?   Are our daily recitations inclusive?  And how do we say our prayers?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Indeed, he is very wise.   A person should use money earned to pay off debts first.  Once the debts are cleared, whatever revenue made subsequently will be profit. A company should operate in the same manner.  You cannot claim to be high in debt on one hand, and on the other, claim to be high in profit.  Understand?   That is why he is very intelligent. Thus, everyone should perform more good deeds to eliminate their karmic debts.  This will in turn help to ward off troubles, worries and calamities for you.  Isn’t that wonderful?

RECITE THE GUNA RATNA SILA DHARANI WHEN EXPENDING MERITS IN MAKING A WISH

Wenda20170303 21:58
(Master Jun Hong Lu's call-in radio program)

Caller: Master Lu, when we vow to use our merits from being a volunteer in the Public Talk to achieve a goal, should we recite the Guna Ratna Sila Dharani (Gong De Bao Shan Shen Zhou) too?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, you should.
Caller: How many times?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Usually 49 times.
Caller: In that case, should we make a wish and perform a one-off recitation of 49 times, or should it be recited continuously?
Master Jun Hong Lu: In general, you may recite 49 times for each wish made.

FEEDBACK FROM A BUDDHIST PRACTITIONER: ATTENDING THE SINGAPORE PUBLIC TALK HELPED TO PREVENT A LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION

Wenda20170305B 33:11
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)
FEEDBACK FROM A BUDDHIST PRACTITIONER: ATTENDING THE SINGAPORE PUBLIC TALK HELPED TO PREVENT A LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION
Caller: A Buddhist practitioner from Shanghai, who was new to the practice, attended the recent public talk held in Singapore. Initially, he experienced difficulties applying for his visa. He then did his recitations, made vows and liberated lives and finally had his visa approved through another channel. On the night after the public talk ended, his daughter in Shanghai dreamt that his participation in the public talk had helped to prevent a life-threatening incident. He is 30 years old and he felt very grateful.

Master Jun Hong Lu: We get so many feedback like this. Everyone should cherish these opportunities that Bodhisattva gives us. It would be a pity if people chose not to cultivate. I am very serious and I am really concerned for those who do not believe or practice. One misstep can deviate you from your destination.

Caller: We can understand the urgency of this matter. We are very grateful towards Master Lu and Guan Yin Bodhisattva for enabling Buddhist friends who have not been introduced to Buddhism to attend such a great event, and eliminating many of their karmic debts at the same time.
Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes.

ALL SUTRAS & MANTRAS COULD BE RECITED AT CROSSROADS; DO NOT RECITE THE HEART SUTRA OR THE AMITABHA PURE LAND REBIRTH MANTRA WHILE STAYING OUT AT NIGHT

Wenda20150327 01:34
(Master Jun Hong Lu's call-in radio program)

Caller: Is it true that when we perform recitations outdoor, Heart Sutra (Xin Jing) and Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra (Wang Sheng Zhou) are prohibited while we are going through a crossroad or a street?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Who said so?
Caller: I read from the circulations in the chat group, thus, I would like to confirm.
Master Jun Hong Lu: You may recite any scriptures during daytime. During night-time, do not recite the Heart Sutra but recite the Great Compassion Mantra instead. It is alright to recite all sutras and mantras when crossing the road.
Caller: Okay, when we are going through a crossroad or a street at night, we cannot recite the Heart Sutra and the Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra, can we?
Master Jun Hong Lu: You are not supposed to recite these two scriptures at night in the first place.
Caller: Alright, thank you.
Master Jun Hong Lu: In fact, you are not supposed to recite the two scriptures at all while you are walking outdoor at night.

NOT NECESSARY TO BLESS BUDDHIST BEADS THAT HAD BEEN WORN BEFORE

Wenda20160923 39:04
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)

Caller: Master Lu, can we still bring Buddhist beads that have been worn for a good period of time to your Public Talk for blessings?
Master Jun Hong Lu: There is no need to bless items like this. As long as you perform daily recitation of scriptures, it will definitely be illuminated by Buddha’s aura.

LIVE WITHOUT STRESS BY UNDERSTANDING NEGATIVE ENERGIES

Master Jun Hong Lu’s Public Talk
Auckland, New Zealand
December 3, 2017

LIVE WITHOUT STRESS BY UNDERSTANDING NEGATIVE ENERGIES

Being aggravated is punishment inflicted on ourselves for the mistakes we have made, allowing our faults to play in our mind and torture us long after returning home.

Regret is caused by allowing undesirable events in the past that were uncontrollable to ruin our present state of mind.

Anxiety occurs when we allow potential hazards yet to happen frighten us in the present moment.

Loneliness comes when we confine ourselves to self-erected cells of solitary confinement.

An inferiority complex is born when we slander ourselves by comparing our weaknesses to the strength of others. This is caused by failing to understand that each person has their own strengths and weaknesses.

Understanding these negative energies enables us to lead a stress-free life. Steering away from them allows us to gain new insights, let go of our attachments, and increase one’s level of wisdom.

FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T WASTE TIME, LIFE IS ETERNAL

Wenda20171215 23:25
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Master Jun Hong Lu, ‘Time flies, and the year is coming to an end. I hope all of you will cherish time.

Let me tell you, life is extremely precious. And, what is the continuation of life based upon?  The most important factor is time. Should you pay no heed to this principal measure and squander the time in your life, how will you be able to preserve its eternity?  Hence, it is said that life is eternal for a person who does not waste time.’
