RECITING THE EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE (LI FO DA CHAN HUI WEN) IN AN EVEN MORE PIOUS MANNER ON CLOUDY DAYS

Wenda20150213  01:01:01  [Master Jun Hong Lu's call-in radio program]

Caller: Master Lu, one night you appeared in my dream with a lot of discourses, but when I woke up in the next morning, I could not remember any of those except one that was very clear, saying “There are specific rules to observe when reciting the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance (Li Fo Da Chan Hui Wen) during cloudy days”.  I would like you to elaborate further on this.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Well, it simply means that you have to recite it in an even more pious manner.  Before performing the recitation, you have to say the prayer, “May the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva protect and bless me with your compassion, I will now recite the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance.”  In this way, you won’t be inviting punishment from Dharma protectors.  This is because there tend to be many little foreign spirits when the sky is cloudy or overcast.  While you are reciting the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance, these spirits will be jealous of you when you do not receive any punishment for your wrongdoings.  “Why is he not beaten or brought down (to the nether world) by Dharma protectors for his many sins?”  So they will complain to the Dharma protectors in order to have their injustice addressed.

Caller: That means we have to perform our recitation even more mindfully and piously during cloudy days, right?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, and you cannot have any single evil thought or notion during the recitation.

Caller: Ok.
