WAYS TO REDUCE BLOATING. DRINKING TEA AFTER MEAL HELPS DIGESTION

Wenda20170820B (Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Caller: I often feel bloated in my lower abdomen. What should I….?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  It has to do with your digestive system.  First, eat smaller meals on a more frequent basis.  Second, avoid oily foods, and limit your consumption of eggs.

Caller:  Alright.

Master Jun Hong Lu:  In addition, you should drink a cup of tea after each meal.  Why do some people like to drink tea after meals?  Have you noticed Westerners’ habit of drinking coffee?  They do this because it helps to cleanse their digestive system.

Caller: I see.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Drinking tea has the same benefit.  It helps in digestion, protects our colon, and prevents the accumulation of foods in the stomach.

LETTING GO OF NEGATIVE ENERGY

An Excerpt from Master Jun Hong Lu's
Public Talk in Macau
February 26, 2017

LETTING GO OF NEGATIVE ENERGY

It’s a hard truth that this world is filled with suffering. When you are in agony, tell yourself the pain will not last forever, as it diminishes as time passes. Therefore, do not let agony and aggravation anchor themselves in your heart.  If you store all of your hatred, jealousy, aggravations, and other negative energies in your heart over an extended period of time, it inflicts suffering upon your mind and soul. It’s similar to computer memory. When the memory is full, it can cause the computer to crash.

MENTALITY WHEN BESEECHING BODHISATTVA

Wenda20171105A 13:50
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Caller: A Buddhist friend is worried that the matter he is praying for will not materialize. Although he is confident, ’all prayers shall be answered’ by Guan Yin Bodhisattva, he is also worried his karmic obstacles may be too substantial, or the power of his vow may be insufficient. Master, how do we overcome this mentality?
Master Jun Hong Lu: It is not an issue for us to have faith in Guan Yin Bodhisattva and at the same time be worried our karmic obstacles may be too substantial. However, to claim we have faith in Guan Yin Bodhisattva, but at the same time doubt if Bodhisattva is able to help us, is quite a different story. That is where the problem lies. Do you understand?
Caller: I understand. Thank you Master for answering my question.

NEGATIVE KARMA IS A BY-PRODUCT OF UN-WHOLESOME THOUGHTS. ACQUIRE THE BUDDHIST NOTION OF EMPTINESS OF MIND, OR LEARN TO SOLELY GENERATE KIND THOUGHTS

Zongshu20170624 31:27
(Master Jun Hong Lu's Call-In Radio Program)

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Please remember that unwholesome thoughts lead to the creation of negative karma.  It is our thoughts that cause the chain reactions in our body, actions, and speech.  Therefore, it is imperative to learn emptiness of mind when cultivating Buddhist spirituality.  Without any thoughts in mind, you will not create any karma.  If you have thoughts surfacing in your mind, these need to be wholesome. If your thoughts are positive, you will bring good karma to yourself. Negative thoughts can potentially lead to bad outcomes. To understand the theory of karma is to comprehend the idea of 'reap what you sow'. Why do some people have such a heavy amount of negative karma?  It is because they continually keep creating it for themselves.

VIRTUES AND KIND DEEDS

Q&A SESSION WITH WORLD BUDDHIST FRIENDS,
TAIWAN, OCTOBER 04, 2016

VIRTUES AND KIND DEEDS

Question:  Master Lu, if a person accumulates a lot of virtues from their actions, but does not undertake spiritual cultivation or perform recitations, what would the ultimate result of their lives be like ?

Answer:  You may have performed many virtuous deeds, but without spiritual cultivation or recitations, would you even consider these as being virtues? Without spiritual cultivation or recitations, all of these acts can only be regarded as good deeds that reap kind returns. However, there is no virtue found within them.

There is a difference between accumulating virtues and doing good deeds. When you perform good deeds, you are rewarded with kind returns and that is the end of the story.  Should any karmic eruptions occur –like a car accident or chronic disease, virtues are able to neutralize their effects, whereas good deeds are incapable of resolving your negative karmic situations.

IS MONEY AND TIME SPENT TO ACCUMULATE VIRTUES CONSIDERED AS VIRTUES?

Wenda20170303 01:27:17
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)

IS MONEY AND TIME SPENT TO ACCUMULATE VIRTUES CONSIDERED AS VIRTUES?

Caller: A Buddhist practitioner asks whether money spent for the purpose of attending Public Talks, like flight tickets and accommodations, is counted towards the accumulation of our merits and virtues.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes it does. Let me tell you a story. There was a person who always goes to a temple, a decent temple which always helps others perform virtuous deeds. He spends at least 2 hours on each of his visit. For every visit he made, he spent not only his time but also his money. Subsequently, his company assigned him to manage transportation from which he earned a lot of money. Besides his base salary, each time he helps to manage any activities in relation to transportation, he receives a handsome reward. It was just as if, in this aspect, he has earned his karmic reward. Do you understand?

Caller: That means all the money and time spent are considered as virtues?

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right as you have spent these resources on accomplishing the virtuous task.

GENUINELY, WHOLEHEARTEDLY, AND DILIGENTLY LEARNING ABOUT BUDDHISM

Wenda20170917B 00:49
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Master Jun Hong Lu: A lot of people study Buddhism during their lifetime.  However, in the end some do not actually know what they are practising.  They are putting on an act as a Buddhist practitioner to gain the respect of others, simply trying to fish for compliments. This is sheer self-deception.  I hope that all of you genuinely, wholeheartedly, and diligently learn about Buddhism. Be very genuine. To achieve the desired state of consciousness, one must be genuine when it comes to studying Buddhism.

SEVEN REASONS WHY WE SHOULD NOT GET ANGRY

Master Jun Hong Lu’s
Public Talk, Singapore
February 17, 2017

SEVEN REASONS WHY WE SHOULD NOT GET ANGRY

1. We should never get angry as our anger will only eliminate the very last trace of rationale in us.

2. We should never get angry as our anger will ignite the excruciating sense of grievance deep inside us.

3. We should never get angry as our anger will destroy our normal course of life.

4. We should never get angry as our anger will engulf our last bit of courage to forgive others in the end.

5. We should never get angry as our anger will only make things worse.

6. We should never get angry as our anger will not hurt anyone else but ourselves, aggravating our pain and worsening our own emotional distress.

7. We should never get angry as our anger will not make anyone see the truth; it only steers us back to the wrong behaviour which leads us to make the same mistake again.

TALK LESS. PERFORM MORE RECITATIONS OF SCRIPTURES

Wenda20120401 01:07:20
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)

TALK LESS. PERFORM MORE RECITATIONS OF SCRIPTURES

Caller: I always feel I am not spending enough time on performing recitations of scriptures.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Ask yourself how to squeeze more time for recitations. Time is like water in a sponge, you can always find more if you squeeze it. Talk less! There was a couple who used to quarrel day in day out in the past. Now, both husband and wife are diligent in performing recitations.  They now hardly talk or argue as both of them are busy reciting scriptures.

Caller: This is exactly how I feel. When I get home, I could hardly find time to talk.

Master Jun Hong Lu: That is right. That is what Bodhisattva wishes us to do - perform recitations of scriptures, cultivate ourselves, accumulate virtues and build our capabilities. Think about it – talking is the very act that leads to quarrel, isn’t it?

HOW DO DHARMA CULTIVATORS SHIELD AND BLESS THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS?

Shuohua20150306  02:20
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Caller:   When a Dharma cultivator lives within a household, the family is protected.  To what extent can blessings be imparted to our family members?  Is it measured by the amount of negative karma that has been eliminated, or is it another standard?

Master Jun Hong Lu: ‘Shielding family members at home’ could be explained in the following example:  When you diligently and profoundly practise the Dharma to such an extent that your family members perceive you as having attained Buddhahood, it in turn transforms them to being more cultured and less quarrelsome. Such a transformation is a form of shelter for them.

Another type of blessing is when family members are influenced by your actions, and then follow suit to become Dharma cultivators themselves.  By taking this path, their negative karmic debts can also be quickly eliminated.   ’Shielding or Protection’ does not mean you are able to use your aura to bless them. However, you can use your aura, virtues, kindness and good deeds to influence them towards cultivation of the Dharma.

WHEN MISFORTUNE HAS BEEN PREDETERMINED, WE CAN MAKE A VOW TO PERFORM LIFE LIBERATIONS FOR 1,200 FISH - THIS IS THE CARDINAL NUMBER THAT CAN CHANGE OUR FATE AND DESTINY

Shuohua20170818 19:22
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

WHEN MISFORTUNE HAS BEEN PREDETERMINED, WE CAN MAKE A VOW TO PERFORM LIFE LIBERATION FOR 1,200 FISH - THIS IS THE CARDINAL NUMBER THAT CAN CHANGE OUR FATE AND DESTINY

Caller:  Master Lu, how do you derive the number of fish to be liberated during totem readings?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  The number of fish to be liberated is a figure.

Caller:  Is this figure advised by Bodhisattva….?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  It may be a message from Bodhisattva or from a person’s predestined condition.  The amount of fish needing to be liberated will be shown.  For example, the figure that appears most frequently is 1,200. Many people are required to liberate this number of fish.

In regards to fish, I think 1,200 fish is a cardinal number.  For example, when misfortune has been predetermined, we should not worry, and simply begin to gradually liberate this number of fish. When we reach 1,200 fish in total, our fate and destiny will start to immediately transform.

Caller:  You mention 1,200 as being a cardinal number.  In that case, when a Buddhist friend encounters misfortune, he should then make a vow to liberate 1,200 fish. Am I right?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  That’s right.  When you are unable to call through to the Totem enquiry hotline, make a vow based on 1,200 fish.

Caller:  What’s the next tier of fish going upward after 1,200?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  1,800.

Caller:  What is the following amount?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  What comes next is our perseverance in performing life liberation.  Let me reiterate. 1,200 is a cardinal number.  It means by liberating the number of fish. we can notice changes beginning to occur.  The main point is, when we follow Bodhisattva's advice of 1,200 fish, after fulfilling this amount we begin to see our fate and destiny taking a turn towards the positive.

Caller: I understand.  Once again, today you have divulged some important information to everyone!

Master Jun Hong Lu:  If you didn’t ask, how would others ever get to know?  There are many other things I would like to share with all of you, but I just can’t recall them all.  The moment you ask, I can then share them with you!

Caller:  I understand.  Thank you for answering my question Master.

HOW TO DETERMINE IF WE HAVE GOT OVER A KARMIC PASS; BEING FINED CAN BE AN INDICATION

Wenda20170806B 46:28
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Caller:  How are you, Master Lu? I would like to ask you a question, I once spoke to you over the phone and you told me I had yet to get over a karmic pass.  How would I know if I’d overcome it?  Should I continue to offer Little House?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  You would be able to sense it if you have got over a karmic pass. For example, if you no longer had nightmares, or you became more cheerful – these are some of the signs that tell us.

Caller:  I see.  You mentioned that it should be a major karmic pass.

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Is that so?  Have you had a fall lately? If you have, that’s it.

Caller:  No, but I had been fined on several occasions.  Does it count?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Yes.  Being fined can be considered as an indication that you have got over a karmic pass.

THE BASICS OF METAPHYSICS

Master Jun Hong Lu, President of Australia Oriental Radio, Explains The Basics of Metaphysics (Part I)

2014-05-16
Most of my listeners would not be able to pick me out from a crowd in the street, but they can tell me apart, once I talk.

First of all, I would like to thank my listeners who have followed me for 8 years. Every time I see you, my heart finds a way to a warm embrace. Please allow me to wish you good health, good luck and prosperity.

When many of my listeners meet me in person they always say, “Master Lu, your voice sounds fairly mature, like an aged person, but you are in fact a person of great vitality.” Often I rely on sutra chanting, or meditation to relax and replenish energy.  I often perform “Totem enquiry” during a radio program.

Then what is a “Totem”?
When a person is born, he/she has a corresponding image in Heaven. For Chinese people, this image is the Chinese zodiac. For example, if you were born in the Year of the Pig your totem would be in the form of a pig. Likewise, a “rooster” will have a rooster totem. The Western zodiac basically has the same idea. There are totems in Heaven and there are records of names in the Underworld. The reading from  totem enquiry is generally very accurate; however, the key is how it is interpreted.

The Chinese philosophy of “Yin and Yang” and the “The eight trigrams” have been compiled into a genetic code which can be deciphered by the Chinese as the ancient eight trigrams. Speaking about science just for a moment, the LCD screen was developed from Chinese Hexagrams[1]. I will not dwell too much on trivia and the only reason I raise this is that, scientists and people of faith have specifically debated the matter of metaphysics.

Today, I firstly want to talk about a debate in the United States in which an astronomer said, “I have been looking at the sky my whole life, and stars and the Moon were all I saw. I have never seen God, angels, or the Buddha; therefore I do not believe that these things exist.” A person of faith then stood and asked the scientist, “Sir, have you seen the wind? Have you seen electricity?”  To which the scientist replied, “No, I have not.” “But you believe they exist?” asked the religious person. “Yes I do.” responded the scientist. “Every day we use electricity and every day we encounter the wind”. The religious person then asked, “Then before Thomas Edison discovered it, did electricity not exist?” Another man of science then stood and said, “I would like to ask a question. I am a surgeon and have performed operations for my whole life and have never seen a soul and I do not believe it exists.” To which the religious person replied, “Doctor, do you love your wife?”  “Yes, of course, I love her very much.” said the doctor. “Then, can you show me this love?” the religious person then asked. “Can you operate on your body and show us just how much you love her?” This cannot be shown.

Many listeners know my transcendental power and come to me for totem enquiry. If you do not believe in the totem however, it would be of no use to you. It is like making friends. Friends would only help each other with mutual trust. The totem is the same. If you do not wholeheartedly believe in it, the totem would be of no use to you. I have told many of my listeners that my unique ability was a gift from the Bodhisattva. If you practice Buddhism properly, one day you too may be able to see the totem, and then I will no longer be unique, because when you can see what I can see, you will know the totem truly exits. Do not just because something has not been discovered then you think it does not exist. Please think about this. Can you really deny the existence of the things you cannot see? Your intuition plays an important role in understanding this. For instance, when you first meet a person, you may not feel like interacting further with him/her and may even find the person annoying after a few exchanges of greetings. Why is this? It is because you sense a disagreeable energy field or vibe being projected by the person. Your unwillingness to associate with this person further is due to these negative energy fields.

I want to talk now about why there are Yin and Yang in the world. This is actually very simple. The Sun belongs to Yang and the Moon belongs to Yin. Men belong to Yang and women belong to Yin. Why is there sometimes a disharmony of Yin and Yang? What is the consequence of the discord? When a woman’s Yang overshadows her Yin, her personality leans towards that of a man’s. She appears determined while dealing with issues, including those at home. If the husband and the wife both have too much Yang, there are often conflict and quarrels at home. On the other hand, a woman with too much Yin often feels unwell, unhappy and talks weakly. While a man with too much Yin appears inferior and incapable of making decisions. In another words, his Yin is greater than his Yang. A family of two people with overpowering Yin can neither be decisive enough to resolve any matters, nor work together towards a solution. By maintaining an appropriate balance of Yin and Yang we can continue to improve our lives on Earth. This makes the balance of Yin and Yang important. In South Korea they also have the “The eight trigrams”, which is about Yin and Yang. Therefore, Yin and Yang need to be properly regulated.

Now I would like to talk about the reversal of Yin and Yang. Do you know whether money is of the Yin or of the Yang energy? The answer is that, money belongs to the Yin energy. In fact, everything that belongs to Yin needs to be covered. No one hangs up his money on the balcony. Money is kept in the safe, a wallet or pocket. Anything that belongs to Yin should not be exposed frequently as it can lead to troubles. For example, a person goes shopping with a thick roll of 100 dollar bills in his pocket and takes all the bills out at the cash register and hands over only a few. Everyone around looks at him and a few of them may even stalk him. Robbery may even occur. Understand? This is the difference between Yin and Yang. These days people even reverse them. A simple example is sleeping during the day and staying up at night. Traditional Chinese herbalists advocate that human organs require rest at night. A person with a reversed sleeping pattern causes illness to his organs.

Also I would like to talk about what metaphysics is. It includes fortune telling by “The Eight Characters of Birth Time”, fortune telling by feeling bones, Feng-shui, dream interpretation, face reading, palm reading and foot reading. My radio program “Fate, Fortune and Feng-shui” has been running for many, like eight, years. I have a question for you.

What percentage of a person’s life does fate influence? Does anyone here know the answer? Yes, it is 40%. Let’s say a person’s entire life is 100%. Fate only controls 40% of it. The second part is fortune. Fortune controls another 40% of your life. Many (Chinese) people take their children to see a fortune teller and have been told that the child is very good. When the child grows up, he will be very fortunate and become somebody.  So when the child indeed grows up, does he become rich and fortunate as predicted? If not, then it is because fate is predetermined, but fortune is subject to change. If fortune moves to a great extent, it can affect fate. For instance, your fate is said to be very good over the next 5 years. But whether this is true will depend upon the interaction between fate and fortune, each of which account for 40% of your life. Although your fate may be very good, if you do a bad thing, your fortune may go against you. The 40% bad fortune will then overshadow the 40% fate.
What matters now is Feng-shui, which accounts for the remaining 20%. When fortune and fate offset each other, Feng-shui plays a major role, at home or at work. Please note this, Feng-shui is very important but you should rely on fate and fortune first and foremost. The most flexible of these three is fortune, followed by Feng-shui. Most people only consider Feng-shui, which accounts for only 20%, but never consider changing their fortune. Fate and fortune go together. If you want to change your life, remember that fate is fixed but fortune is subject to change.

Marriage affects both fate and fortune. A person may be predicted to have a smooth life in the future, but his/her marriage can change this. How so? It is because marriage combines the fates of the spouses. If a man should have a good life, but his wife’s fate is bad. Once married his life would start to go downhill. On the other hand if a man is fated to be unfortunate, but his wife’s fate is very good, their marriage can improve her husband’s fate. You see, a woman’s fate or fortune can change her husband’s fortune. So finding a spouse is very important. You should be very careful because a good marriage can benefit you. In the old days, marriage was arranged by parents and matchmakers. Although there was no freedom, all parents would have checked the combined fate of the young couple by looking up‘The Eight Characters of Birth Time’which foretells the feasibility of the potential marriage. That is why divorce was relatively rare in the old days. Of course, it also has something to do with the social customs back in those days. Nowadays there are many “love at first sight”. Young couples get divorced as fast as they get married. This is the perplexing conflict. In a world that focuses so much on development and science, how to resolve these issues is no doubt very important.

ALLOCATION OF RECITATION OF THE MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS IN REGARDS TO RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS

Wenda20170205A  01:01:55
(Master Jun Hong Lu's call-in radio program)

Caller: Master Lu, during the Public Talk in Sydney, you advised us to take extra precaution in relationship problems on the second half of each month. As such, when we recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou) as part of our daily recitation, do we adjust the number of recitations for first and second half of each month according to our predicament? How do we plan accordingly? Please enlighten us, Master Lu.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Actually the simplest way out is to recite more when you feel things are not smooth sailing for you.

Caller: In such a case, how many times shall we recite in the second half of the month?

Master Jun Hong Lu: If there are arguments and unhappiness, recite 78 times of Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots.

Caller: Alright, noted.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Recitations above 49 times will be 59 times, followed by 78 times.

CREATE OPPORTUNITY TO CULTIVATE

Master Jun Hong Lu’s
Public Talk, Brisbane Australia 2017

CREATE OPPORTUNITY TO CULTIVATE

A wise person creates an opportunity to practise Buddhism; Foolish person waits for an opportunity to come to them.  We must constantly reflect upon ourselves. We must often ask ourselves: are we still attached to fame and wealth?  Remember. You must diligently observe the precepts and cultivate concentration and wisdom in this mundane world; Enlightenment comes from tranquility and calmness in our mind.

CULTIVATE SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT IN PRACTICAL TRAINING; HELP OTHERS AS WE PRACTISE ALONG

Wenda20160327B 28:07 [Master Jun Hong Lu's call-in radio program]

CULTIVATE SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT IN PRACTICAL TRAINING; HELP OTHERS AS WE PRACTISE ALONG

Caller: Master Lu, we have been cultivating our mind and conduct for quite a while but we are still not sure if we are able to put it to use. When nothing happens, we seem to be well-versed in theory, but there are still critical moments in life where we fail to do the right things. Though we understand moral principles in the course of spiritual development, unwholesome thoughts such as jealousy still arise, Master, is it a test of our cultivation to gauge the level of our cultivation? How do we rid ourselves of unwholesome thoughts?

Master Jun Hong Lu: It is very simple. When one hasn’t attained thorough awareness, one may understand the principles in the theoretical aspect but it doesn’t mean one has complete understanding when it comes to reality. For example, after you have got a bachelor degree, you still need work experience to get a good job.
Similarly, when it comes to cultivating your mind, you need to put it into practice daily. If you don’t interact with people, you would not know how to be tactful and tolerant when dealing with people.

Once you start quarreling with others, anger arises in you. If you know nothing about being tactful and tolerant, you would have been cultivating in vain. This is because you have not practiced what you have learned. (So we really must try to practise them in everyday life…) Yes, while you practise cultivation, you need to enrol yourself as a volunteer and be exposed to different kinds of people including people who are weird. Learn to deal with people with tolerance and diplomacy. This is the so called “ Practical”.

HOW TO INVOKE THE ASSISTANCE OF GUAN YIN BODHISATTVA

Master Jun Hong Lu’s
Public Talk
Singapore

HOW TO INVOKE THE ASSISTANCE OF GUAN YIN BODHISATTVA

Master Jun Hong Lu : Let me share with you, Guan Yin Bodhisattva will definitely make her presence at 8 o’clock in the morning. No matter what life issues you are facing, insist on offering incense at 8am and let Guan Yin Bodhisattva know your problem with utmost earnestness, “Guan Yin Bodhisattva, please save me! Guan Yin Bodhisattva, please save me!”.  And, when Bodhisattva is moved to tears, that is when you will receive her blessings. Do you understand?

THE SPIRIT WANTS ONLY HIS LIFE AND NOT THE LITTLE HOUSES

Wenda20160612A 05:04 [Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program]

Caller:  Master Lu, there is currently a situation whereby the spirit does not want the Little Houses and insisted on taking the karmic debtor’s life, what should we do?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  In situations like these, the only solution is to keep offering him Little Houses.  Let me enlighten you so that you can understand better.   If you had accidentally run over someone’s child and killed him, and the family of the deceased comes looking for you and demanded: “You killed my son and I want to kill your child too”. At that moment you respond: “I will compensate you with money”.  He replies: “I don’t want money; I want your child’s life”.  You beg further: “Please don’t take my child’s life, I will give you more money”.  “I don’t want. I want his life”.  Then you keep adding more…up to a point where he feels content with the amount of compensation: “Wow, so much money, it is worth not taking his child’s life”.

Caller: Oh, I understand now. The final decision is still the Little Houses. We just have to keep offering and increasing the number of Little Houses.

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Yes.  There is no other way.  Let me ask you, in this human realm, are there any other means other than offering money to resolve bad affinities?  No way.  You look around especially at people with status seeking divorces.  They cry, “I want justice!”  What is justice?  In the end, the court awards more financial compensation, the house etc…ultimately; is it not the money that resolved the case?

METAPHYSICS-RECITING LITTLE HOUSES FOR BEGINNERS

Metaphysics Q&A 001 – Reciting Little Houses for Beginners

Q001: I am a beginner and I have never recited Little Houses (Hsiao Fang Tzu) before. Recently I began reciting the Great Compassion Mantra (Ta Pei Chou), Heart Sutra (Hsin Ching), and Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance (Li Fo Ta Chan Hui Wen). Can I now recite the sutras and mantras of the Little Houses?

A001: Master Lu once said that beginners can recite 7 Little Houses as their first batch and address them to their Karmic Creditors. (The exact number depends on the individual’s situation.) In general, every week along with your Daily Recitations, you can offer around 3 Little Houses and address them to the “Karmic Creditor of <your full name>”. You will need to offer extra Little Houses when you are visited by deceased persons or aborted babies in your dreams; experience nightmares, sudden illnesses or misfortunes; or when you constantly have a bad temper for no particular reason. All the above situations indicate that you currently have Karmic Creditors.

In general, if:

You are visited by deceased persons in your dreams, you need to recite 7 Little Houses for each individual and address the Little Houses to “<full name of the deceased person>”. If you do not know the name of the deceased person, you can address them to the “Karmic Creditor of <your full name>”.

You experience sleep paralysis, or you dream of someone chasing after you, giving you or asking you for money or gifts, or offering you food etc., it is recommended that you recite 4 to 7 Little Houses and address them to the “Karmic Creditor of <your full name>”.

You experience sudden illnesses or misfortunes, you can recite 7 Little Houses and address them to the “Karmic Creditor of <your full name>”.

You notice that you constantly have a bad temper, or have frequent conflicts with people around you for no particular reason, you can recite 7 Little Houses and address them to the “Karmic Creditor of <your full name>”.

You sense that foreign spirits are occupying your body, you can recite 4 to 7 Little Houses and address them to the “Karmic Creditor of <your full name>”. Note that your intuition is very important.

You have had an abortion, miscarriage, or ectopic pregnancy before, you need to recite at least 7 to 21 Little Houses for each child. You can address them to “Child of <mother’s full name>”. Please do not add anything extra, such as “Aborted child of <full name>”, or “n-th child of <full name>”, etc. After you have recited the Little Houses, if you dream of well-dressed children looking very happy, generally it means that they have proceeded to a better place. On the contrary, if the conditions in the dream do not appear to be very good, it means that the children have not proceeded to a better place and you should continue to perform the transferring of merits to them by reciting more Little Houses.

For more details, please refer to Important Information about Little Houses.

METAPHYSICS- MAINTAINING FOCUS WHEN PERFORMING RECITATIONS

Metaphysics Q&A 011 – Maintaining focus when performing recitations

Q011: Master Lu, how can we maintain our focus when performing recitations? Currently when I perform recitations, I constantly have distracting thoughts and think about something else. Please advise.

A011:

One of the reasons for reduced effectiveness is that you are not focused when you perform recitations. For example, if you are thinking about your family members when you are reciting for yourself, then a portion of the merits may be transferred to them.

How can you maintain focus when you perform recitations? Before you begin your recitation, you can gaze at the sky for 1 to 3 minutes and don’t think about anything. Once you have cleared your mind you can begin your recitation.

When performing recitations, it is best to visualize what you have prayed for, or visualize the image of the Great Merciful and Great Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva. Then you can mindfully listen to your own voice while you recite. This way, your thoughts would not wander.

When you recite the Heart Sutra (Hsin Ching) for your Daily Recitation (Kung Ko), you can add the following line to your prayer, “May the Great Merciful and Great Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva protect and bless me, <your full name>, grant me wisdom and help me to maintain focus when I perform recitations”.
If you are having too many distracting thoughts when you are performing recitations from memory, you can take out your sutra booklet and recite by reading.

When performing recitations, you should unite your mind with your energy (combine your mind with your energy field together as a whole), unite your voice with your energy (combine your voice with your energy field together as a whole), and unite your body with your mind (combine your body with your mind together as a whole). If you can achieve these three uniting processes, you will have very positive effects from performing recitations.

METAPHYSICS- EXPERIENCING TINGLING WHEN PERFORMING RECITATIONS

Metaphysics Q&A 012 – Experiencing tingling when performing recitations
Q012:

Dear Master Lu: I am currently reciting the Great Compassion Mantra (Ta Pei Chou) 7 times, the Heart Sutra (Hsin Ching) 7 times, and the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance (Li Fo Ta Chan Hui Wen) 3 times in the morning. I experience tingling only when I recite the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance. I do not have such a feeling if I don’t recite. Moreover, such tingling occurs only in certain parts of my body. It is not intense, just a mild tingling sensation.

A012:

If you experience tingling only when you recite the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance, not at any other time, then it represents a response of your karmic obstacles. In fact, it presents the best opportunity for you to eliminate your karmic obstacles. (That is why listeners often call into Master Lu’s radio program and ask about the amount and location of their karmic obstacles, so that they could tackle them head on.)

The best solution to eliminating karmic obstacles is to recite the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance, along with Little Houses (that is, a combination of designated Buddhist scriptures). As a rule of thumb, you can recite the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance 3 times per day (for 2 to 3 months) or 7 times per day (for 1 month). Before reciting, you should say “May the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva protect and bless me, <your full name>, help me repent and eliminate the karmic obstacles in <the parts of your body where you feel tingling>.”

During this period, you should also recite about 3 Little Houses per week, addressing them to the “Karmic Creditor of <your full name>” until you are fully healed.  However, if you experience pain in that particular part of your body and the pain intensifies, then it is very likely that the karmic obstacles have been activated. You should burn 4 to 7 Little Houses as soon as possible.

METAPHYSICS- HOW TO RESOLVE CONFLICTS IN MARRIAGE/RELATIONSHIPS?

Metaphysics Q&A 003 – How to Resolve Conflicts in Marriage/Relationships?
Q003:

Dear Master Lu: How do we resolve a couple’s conflicts or conflicts in marriage? Chinese fortune tellers would say that such incompatibility could be predetermined. As a follower of your Buddhist practice— Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, I recite Buddhist scriptures as you instruct. But I still can’t wrap my head around the issue.  I recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Chieh Chieh Chou) every day, but still hope that you could give me a prescription for this problem.  Such “predetermined incompatibility” in relationships seems so destructive that I’ve seen many couples around me breaking up because of this.

A003:

“Predetermined incompatibility” in marriage relationships does exist. If you confirm that a husband and his wife are indeed incompatible with each other based upon the reading after matching the husband’s date of birth with that of his wife (a Chinese fortune-telling practice), you could consider the following methods to resolve the conflict:

First, it’s recommended that the couple sleep in different rooms.

Each person should recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Chieh Chieh Chou) 21 to 49 times per day to resolve karmic conflicts.

The effectiveness rate of resolving a couple’s conflicts by reciting the following sutras and mantras could be 50% (actual results vary from person to person):

Recite the Heart Sutra (Hsin Ching) for each other 7 to 21 times per day.

Recite the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance (Li Fo Ta Chan Hui Wen) to repent and eliminate the karmic obstacles that lead to the conflicts in marriage/relationship.

If the situation has not been turned around after using all of the above methods for a while, you will need to recite Little Houses (Hsiao Fang Tzu) for each other.  Address the Little Houses to the “Karmic Creditor of <your partner’s name>”. You can recite more Little Houses if required.

DO NOT VISUALIZE THE PERSON YOU ARE HELPING WHEN RECITING THE MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS

Master Jun Hong Lu's Discourse (Question 188)
09 November 2017

DO NOT VISUALIZE THE PERSON YOU ARE HELPING WHEN RECITING THE MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS

Q: Can I visualise my son when I recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou) in order to resolve negative karmic ties with him?

A: It is not advisable to do so, as you will invite trouble if there is a foreign spirit with him.  It is through the power of Bodhisattva, and not your imagination, that causes the recitation to be effective.  As soon as you visualise your son, the foreign spirit connected to his body will come over to you.

HOW TO BE STRICT WHEN YOU DISCIPLINE CHILDREN

Wenda20171022A 45:30
(Master Jun Hong Lu's Call-In Radio Program)

Caller: There is a two-and-a-half-year-old child, who due to lack of awareness at such a tender age, is overbearing, unwilling to share , and likes to push others around.  This child is particularly domineering, and especially poor in conduct.  Can we as parents be strict with him by lecturing, disciplining, and beating him?

Master Jun Hong Lu: You can punish him!  Make him kneel down or stand in a corner.  Do not beat a child, as it is not good to do so. The only exception to punish via a beating is when you have a deep-rooted love for your child.  In general, when the affinity between you and the child is not deep, and he does not have much affection for you, he will run away if you beat him.
