IS MONEY AND TIME SPENT TO ACCUMULATE VIRTUES CONSIDERED AS VIRTUES?

Caller: A Buddhist practitioner asks whether money spent for the purpose of attending Public Talks, like flight tickets and accommodations, is counted towards the accumulation of our merits and virtues.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes it does. Let me tell you a story. There was a person who always goes to a temple, a decent temple which always helps others perform virtuous deeds. He spends at least 2 hours on each of his visit. For every visit he made, he spent not only his time but also his money. Subsequently, his company assigned him to manage transportation from which he earned a lot of money. Besides his base salary, each time he helps to manage any activities in relation to transportation, he receives a handsome reward. It was just as if, in this aspect, he has earned his karmic reward. Do you understand?

Caller: That means all the money and time spent are considered as virtues?

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right as you have spent these resources on accomplishing the virtuous task.
