CAN WE RECITE THE EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE (LIFO) AND ADDITIONAL 1 OR 2 TIMES ON A DAILY BASIS TO REPENT FOR NEW KARMA?

Shuohua20171006 18:36
(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Caller:  New negative karma is more difficult to eliminate.  Hence, on top of our daily recitation of LIFO, which is performed 5 or 7 times, can we recite an additional 1 or 2 times each day, and pray ‘May the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva bless me, help me repent, and eliminate all karmic obstacles from the improper deeds I may have committed today’?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  You may absolutely do so.  The only issue is with some people whose karmic obstacles are too heavy.  Generally, it is not a problem at all for a person to recite an extra 1 or 2 times.  As long as you can do it, go ahead.

Caller:  Due to the fact new negative karma is more difficult to eliminate and we are susceptible to committing improper deeds we may not even be aware of in our daily lives, should we repent in this way to eliminate negative karma so that it will not be accumulated?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  That’s for sure.  For example, when a bad thought crosses your mind, if you do 1 recitation , it will immediately be eliminated.

Caller:  That’s good.  From today onward I will add to my recitations accordingly.
