Caller: Master Lu, you mentioned on the 21 January on The Totem Program that, ‘a person is able to amass wealth through performing life liberation.’ Could you kindly elaborate on this?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Amassing wealth in this context includes building up one’s literary and moral capacities. Why is this so? The money spent on performing life liberation is never wasted as you have spent it on your virtuous achievement of saving others.
Caller: I agree.
Master Jun Hong Lu: And, you have not wasted your time either. You have used your time for virtuous achievement as well. Aren’t you amassing future wealth and possessions as a result? Based on the law of causality, what we give, we shall receive. As you have given away wealth, you shall gain wealth. Therefore, the more you give, the more wealth is accumulated.
Caller: That’s right. Master, if a person wishes to pray for wealth, should they verbalize their intention to Guan Yin Bodhisattva during the life liberation ceremony?
Master Jun Hong Lu: No, don’t do that. When you perform life liberation, a cause is sown. So, the effect will surely come about. It is like a farmer who has sown watermelon seeds this year. The fruit can only be harvested in the following year. The farmer cannot be telling the seeds daily, ‘Please hurry up and give me watermelons as I need to make some money,’ or ‘Hurry up! Grow now!’ It doesn’t make any difference if they verbalize their intention or not; it takes time. Do you understand?
