(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)
Caller: In Buddhism in Plain Terms, you mentioned “recitation can eliminate negative karma”. Hence, in the process of doing recitations and eliminating negative karma, how do we combine the compassionate vows embodied in the mantras with the state of our actions, speeches and thoughts from recitations, so that they can operate together to achieve the goal of enlightening sentient beings in addition to the elimination of negative karma? Please advise us, Master Lu.
Master Jun Hong Lu: It is through the ’unification of our mind with that of Buddha’. When your thoughts are occupied with Buddha, Buddha will be in your heart. When your life is guided by the cognitive thoughts of Buddha, it is known as ‘unification of mind with that of Buddha’. As long as you are able to unify your heart with Buddha, you will have attained this unification.
