CAN WE REPLACE FRESH FLOWERS AND FRUIT ON A BUDDHIST ALTAR AT NIGHT?

(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)

Caller: Now that it’s summer we frequently need to replace fresh flowers and fruit on our Buddhist altar. I’m worried I may not have enough time to do this in the morning. Therefore, I usually replace fresh flowers and fruit a day in advance, that is, after I have offered the evening incense for that day. Is it proper to do this?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, you may do so.

Caller: Or, would it be best to do it early in the morning?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Since you are left with no choice, it’s suitable to do it at night. However, it’s best to replace these items in the morning. In the event you don’t have time to do so in the morning, changing them at night is also fine.

Caller: Alright.
