(Master Jun Hong Lu’s Call-In Radio Program)
Caller: Many practitioners express the notion that their fellow Buddhist colleagues look to be cultivating their spirituality well, but then cannot avoid calamities or misfortunes when these situations present themselves. Master Lu says we actually are unable to judge how well others are cultivating their spirits, and that we can only truly judge ourselves on this matter. So, how do we determine if we are genuinely cultivating our own spirituality?
Master Jun Hong Lu: How do we judge this? Only you have clear insight into yourself! Do not let others judge you. True cultivation comes from within your heart! Every positive and negative action you perform is done when using your own conscience. Don’t you agree?
Caller: I understand. In future, when we undertake any form of action or speech, we will do it openly for everyone to see, especially my conscious self.
Master Jun Hong Lu: Right! Everything must be above board and open for all to see and hear. A person who whispers behind others’ backs is disrespectful and has fallen off of the spiritual path! What is there to be ashamed of?
Caller: Many of my fellow Buddhist practitioners organise group life liberation activities and practise Dharma together. In actuality, we should be spending some time cultivating our inner selves on our own, right?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Be clear about the process. All three or four people in the group need to share responsibility together, understand? Do not let one person take charge or let someone too young to be in charge of monies. Why do banks need cashiers and accountants?
