Master Jun Hong Lu: Chinese New Year is around the corner. It is my wish that all of you practice Buddhism diligently and perform recitation. Now, we are moving towards the end of the year which is a time that we should settle all the outstanding trivial matters. It is best to perform more recitations before the new year, especially the EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE (LIFO). This sutra could help us eliminate a lot of karmic obstacles.
The first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year falls on Friday. Based on the Chinese tradition, if you are involved in any argument on this day, you would have various argument throughout the year; the same if you are not happy on this first day, you may be unhappy for the rest of the year. That is why many people will take leave on the first day. They believe if they work on the first day of the Chinese New Year, they would have to work all the way through the year!
