A PERSON’S VOW OF BECOMING A FULL VEGETARIAN WILL BE AFFECTED BY UNINTENTIONAL CONSUMPTION OF NON-VEGETARIAN FOOD

Caller: Master Lu, I heard in your previous programs that there were Buddhist practitioners who breached their vows of practising vegetarianism unknowingly till you performed Totem reading on them. At times, due to the circumstances we are in, or when we are unaware, we may, as full vegetarian, consume some non-vegetarian food. In cases where we are unable to get through to Master Lu’s hotline and we are also unsuspecting of such wrongdoings, is this considered as breaching of vows? Will it affect the vow we have made to become a full vegetarian?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Of course, it will affect the vow you have made. Regardless of whether you have done it intentionally or unintentionally, there will be resultant karma. To quote an example, if you accidentally kill someone in an automobile accident this year, will you still be sentenced by the law? That’s for sure, right?
