TOO MANY DESIRES AND WANDERING THOUGHTS WILL CAUSE MERITS TO LEAK JUST AS MUCH

(Master Jun Hong Lu’s call-in radio program)

Caller: Master Lu, although we didn’t specifically ask for something, we may still consume our merits when we crave for certain things. Is it true that whenever desires and wandering thoughts arise, depletion of merits will ensue? Will having more desires and wandering thoughts lead to consumption of merits?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, totally. When a person accumulates lots of merits but have increasing wandering thoughts at the same time, wouldn’t there be any leakage?

Caller: Yes, indeed.

Master Jun Hong Lu: If you are a government official who subsequently succumbed to greed and corruption, would you have depleted your merits?

Caller: Yes, definitely.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Eventually, you will be caught. It is this simple.

Caller: I understand now. Thank you for answering my question, Master Lu.
